Restilane®

RomiTal offers the latest non-surgical procedures for wrinkles removal including injections of dermal fillers, such as Restylane®. We guarantee safety and high quality of each procedure.

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® (Q-med, Sweden) is a safe natural dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists in the human body. It is a non-animal crystal-clear gel that is used for facial wrinkles, folds and other skin imperfections. Hyaluronic acid that is produced by some body tissues gives skin its volume and fullness. Restylane®’s action is based on this natural body function and has proven to deliver visible and long-lasting results. Restylane® is a unique biocompatible dermal filler. Due to its origin the product naturally integrates into the tissue and maintains shape using the body’s own moisture.

Where should it be used?

In December 2003, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Restylane® for the treatment of facial wrinkles. It is used for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds (e.g. naso-labial folds), especially those where botulinum toxin wears off too fast. Restylane® is also a good solution for reducing the appearance of lines around the mouth; lip and facial contouring.

Precautions

Even though Restylane® itself is safe, it is necessary to follow some precautions to reduce side effects of the procedure, such as bruising or bleeding. One week prior to treatment avoid using aspirin, high doses of Vitamin E and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane®.

Procedure

Restylane® is injected right under the skin using fine gauge needles with local anaesthetic in sensitive areas. A treatment session is performed in the outpatient settings and takes up to 30 minutes. The result can be seen immediately and lasts for 6-8 months depending on the natural absorption of the body. After this period the follow-up injections can be made.

Side effects and recovery

Side effects of Restylane® treatment are minimal and do not necessarily appear. However as with any cosmetic procedure side effects may include reactions at the site of injection such as bruising, redness, pain, itching, tenderness and swelling. However these symptoms should not last longer than one week. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.
