Laser facelift

Until recently facelift was only possible through a surgery. However there was no solution for people under 45, for whom traditional facelift was not yet recommended.

In the 90-s the so called "laser resurfacing" (laser dermabrasion), which allowed for 10-15 years skin rejuvenation and face oval correction, was widely spread. It became a partial alternative to circular facelift and blepharoplasty. Yet a very aggressive laser impact on skin and a long recovery process complicated by multiple side effects made this procedure obsolete and deep laser dermabrasion has been forgotten for a few years.

Carbondioxide (CO2) laser is now used in a new, less traumatic procedure of laser facelift (fractional thermolysis). In some ways laser facelift is similar to laser resurfacing but its gentler impact on skin makes it possible to greatly reduce the recovery period. Our medical center became the first Ukrainian clinic to learn and introduce methods of punctuate fractional "thermolysis" for the purposes of rejuvenation and facelift.

As it is known, biological process of skin ageing begins at the age of 25. By the age of 30 upper skin layer regenerates only at half the rate as at the age of 15. Dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of skin and it becomes rougher, duller, and skin wrinkles appear.

Depending on the level of skin ageing, a corresponding quantity and intensity of procedures is prescribed, for instance:

  • at the first stage of skin ageing only 1-2 sessions of laser facelift with an interval of 2-4 weeks are needed;
  • at the second stage 2-4 sessions with an interval of 10-30 days are necessary;
  • at the third stage 3-5 sessions with an interval of 2-4 weeks are required.

Carbondioxide (CO2) laser actively stimulates production of subdermal collagen, which is responsible for the youthful look and elasticity of skin.

A patient can return to work on the second day after the procedure.

Laser frictional thermolysis can be used as a complementary procedure with a traditional circular facelift for older people and as an alternative for people aged between 35 and 45 and having excessive face skin.
